Timing & Frequency over Fiber

Optical Zonu’s wide array of products offers a capability to distribute Timing and Frequency (RF) signals over single mode or multimode fiber optic cable for various distances. Precise synchronization of clocks is a crucial ingredient of public safety communication systems and private networks. Our RF over Fiber Optics (RFoF) or analog over fiber Links are compliant with timing standards such as GPS, Glosnas, Galileo, WWVB, MSF, DCF and etc. They may also carry common reference frequency signals such as 1, 10 and 50 MHz.

Transporting timing and frequency signals over fiber optic cable has distinct advantages over utilizing traditional coaxial cable. Optical fiber supports very long cable distances, up to 10 Km or more, with minimal signal loss and degradation. Optical fiber operates by transmitting light along a dielectric glass fiber, rather than electrical signals over copper wires. This provides a highly secure, tamper-proof medium for signal transfer, minimizing security risks and unauthorized signal interception concerns. Light is also unaffected by electro-magnetic interference, allowing signals to be transmitted unaffected through electrically noisy environments.

Optical Zonu’s RF over Fiber Optics Products are suitable for the transport of HF to Ka band signals over fiber optic cable. Our fiber optic Interfacility Links (IFL), available in various form factors, are capable of providing long or short distance uplink /downlink solutions which can be achieved using our cost effective modular components, while professional and more demanding long distance or multi-carrier CWDM applications may be met using our high dynamic range, regular or cooled DFB Lasers – delivering excellent signal quality under varying conditions.

Optical Zonu’s RFoF solutions include Maritime uses and all types of satellite and direct communications using fiber optics links to deliver voice, video, data, encrypted and proprietary signals.
