The Calian TW163 is a professional-grade, full GNSS band signal splitter that connects one antenna to two receivers. It supports GPS/QZSS-L1/L2/L5, QZSS-L6, GLONASS-G1/G2/G3, BeiDou-B1/B2/B2a/B3, Galileo-E1/E5a/E5b/E6, NavIC-L5, and L-band correction services.
GNSS is critical for safety, security, timing, and infrastructure applications, all of which require high availability. Resilient, fault-tolerant components are essential to avoid service interruptions.
First-generation GNSS signal splitters had a single point of failure: only one attached receiver powered the splitter and the antenna. If this receiver failed or was unplugged, all attached receivers also failed.
It accepts power from all attached GNSS receivers and selects power using a specific protocol. Port #1 has priority if its voltage is within the range (3.0 V – 12.5 V). If Port #1’s receiver is disconnected or its power is out of range, the TW163 switches to the next port in numerical order, provided its power and voltage are within the expected range. This switching and port selection is deterministic.
If the antenna fails and does not draw current, the TW163 provides the receiver powering the antenna with a current draw lower than 2 mA, indicating an antenna fault.
The TW163 offers best-in-class performance in terms of noise figure, isolation, and linearity. It is housed in a corrosion-protected, military-grade aluminum (6061-T6) casing, which is robust, compact, and lightweight. The splitter has passed the IP67 water ingress test.
The TW163 is available with either TNC or type-N connectors and offers 10 dB gain over signal-splitting loss.
