Overview

The patent-pending SSL990XF low-profile cross dipole antenna with parasitic resonators is designed for precision positioning. It covers a wide range of frequency bands including GPS/QZSS-L1/L2/L5, QZSS-L6, GLONASS-G1/G2/G3, Galileo-E1/E5a/E5b/E6, BeiDou-B1/B2/B2a/B3, and NavIC-L5. It also supports satellite-based augmentation systems (SBAS) like WAAS (North America), EGNOS (Europe), MSAS (Japan), and GAGAN (India), as well as L-band correction services.

Key Features

  • Wideband Antenna Element: Provides 67 MHz of signal bandwidth for the upper GNSS band and L-Band corrections (1539 - 1606 MHz), and 136 MHz for the lower band (1164 - 1300 MHz).
  • Axial Ratio: Ensures excellent capture of RHCP signals and mitigation of LHCP signals.
  • High Peak Gain: 2.5 dBi with ≤ 1.5 dB (typical) axial ratio at zenith for superior multipath mitigation and precise phase center.

Advanced Filtering

The Calian SSL990XF features the latest eXtended Filter (XF) technology and a low current, low-noise amplifier (LNA) with an integrated low-loss pre-filter. This setup prevents harmonic interference from high-amplitude signals such as 700 MHz band LTE and other near-band cellular signals. The custom XF filtering effectively mitigates out-of-band signals, including new LTE and Ligado signals, ensuring optimal performance of the antenna and attached GNSS receivers.

Interference Mitigation

  • North America: Planned Ligado signals (1525 - 1536 MHz) can impact GNSS antennas supporting L-band correction services (1539 - 1559 MHz).
  • Europe: New LTE signals [Band 32 (1452 - 1496 MHz)].
  • Japan: LTE Bands 11 and 21 (1476 – 1511 MHz).
  • Inmarsat Satellite Communication: Uplink (1626.5 - 1660.5 MHz) can also affect GNSS signals.

Design and Installation

Weighing only 88g, the SSL990XF is light and compact, featuring a precision-tuned cross dipole element for an excellent axial ratio. It is housed in a weatherproof (IP67) enclosure and can be mounted using adhesive tape or a mounting collar with a waterproofing O-ring. Two antenna cable connector options are available: female SMA and MCX.
